About Our Candles

In this post, we will give more thorough information about the wax, wicks, containers, and scents we use in our candles.
The soy wax is made from pure soybean oil made in the USA from domestically grown crops.  The use of soy wax supports our American farmers.  In addition, it is a natural and biodegradable wax, manufactured according to FDA standards.  It is also Kosher certified and not tested on animals.  Our natural wax does not contain any palm wax, petroleum, paraffin, or beeswax products.  It does not contain any pesticides or herbicides, toxic materials or Genetically Modified Material (GMO’s).  It is safe and non-toxic, burns at a cooler temperature, and cleans up easily with soap and warm water.  Soy wax is a renewable source which can be continually produced without damaging the ecosystem.
Our wicks are specifically made to complement natural soy wax.  They are coreless cotton wicks braided with thin paper filaments interwoven for burn stability.  The wicks have been primed with vegetable wax, instead of paraffin wax, making them a natural burning wick.
The majority of the scents we offer are synthetic fragrances.  However, we also make aromatherapy candles scented with 100% pure, high quality essential oils.  If you are looking for a completely natural candle with added health benefits, look no further than our aromatherapy candles.  Beware of any candle companies advertising that they make their candles with "all natural" fragrance oils when they are selling candles that smell like baking scents and such things.  As far as we have searched high and low, we have yet to find any all natural fragrance oils that can smell like Apple Pie, Banana Nut Bread, or Maple Syrup.  We want you to know the truth that the most natural fragrances that can be put into a candle come from 100% pure essential oils.
All of our candles are made without the use of added color, leaving them to exhibit the natural white color of the soy wax.  This keeps our candles more natural—which is one of our goals.  If you order a candle and desire color added to it, we can certainly do it.  However, we would like you to know that soy wax absorbs color differently than paraffin wax.  Due to its natural properties, colored soy wax candles will exhibit mostly a pastel color.  The color will not typically come out very deep or bright.
Our containers are all made of heat resistant glass and include a decorative lid.  We offer containers in 4, 8, 10, 16, and 26 ounce sizes.  The 4 and 8 ounce containers include a glass lid.  We have a beautiful selection of flat and bubble shaped glass lids, rustic colored metal lids, and wood lids to fit our 10, 16, and 26 ounce containers.  We believe in recycling, so once your candle is finished burning, rinse your container out with warm, soapy water and return it to us for a refill.  We will deduct $.75-$2.00 off the cost of the refill candle, depending on the size of container used.  We also accept heat resistant containers that you may already have on hand and make your candle in that container offering the same price discount.  Please note, not all heat resistant containers will make a good candle; it will depend on the shape and size.  But we are more than happy to take a look at your container, and if we can make a candle out of it, we will.
For a finishing, decorative touch we tie a ribbon, natural jute cord, or latigo lace cord around the candle attaching to it a small card with information on the scent and size of the candle.
If you have any questions about our candles that are not explained here, please do not hesitate to ask.  Thanks for reading.

  1. I am currently running "burn time" tests on our candles, so that I can tell customers how long they can typically expect a candle to last. I want customers to know they are getting a lot of candle for their money.

At the moment, I have been testing the square and round 10 oz containers. I have burned the 10 oz. square container the longest. So far, it has been 43 hours (burning it 3-4 hours at a time), and it still has ample wax left to burn. I will post again in the future when it is completely finished. If it ends up burning about 50 hours, it would mean that it only cost $0.28 cents per fragrance filled hour.

  2. I finished testing the 10 oz candle. It burned a total of 56 hours, leaving 1/4 to 1/2 inch of wax at the bottom. That turns into 5.6 hours per ounce of wax. That means that you are only paying about $0.25 cents per hour of burning time.

Conservatively speaking, you can count on our candles burning approximately 5 hours per each ounce of wax.

  3. After conducting many more burn tests on various candles, I will say that our candles consistently burn at a rate of 4 hours per ounce of wax. I think the first candle I timed may have had more like 11 oz of wax. In further tests, it has been a more consistent result of getting 4 hours burn time per ounce.
